Corporate sustainability: are you doing everything you can?

Finally, we have reached a level of global awareness where can talk about sustainability as a core function of an organisation. A ‘quick and dirty’ search for “Sustainability” in Jobs on LinkedIn produced 34,091 results. “Lean” produced 7,411, “Strategy” produced 100,663. That’s mainstream and unlikely to decrease anytime soon, and that’s a good thing.

In a country currently facing a cost-of-living crisis, austerity taxes and fuel poverty, it hasn’t come a moment too soon. But is this just a challenge or can we also view it as an opportunity? A chance for renewables to outshine their controversial counterparts. A chance for climate change to take centre stage in all debates. A chance for waste reduction, landfill, CO2 emissions, pollution, recycling, and clean air initiatives to creep up the priority list for big business.

And let’s also factor in sustainability of people too (although we are the ones responsible for planetary abuse), sustainability of workforce, is much higher on the agenda these days. That means employee churn, wellbeing, motivation, incentivisation, job satisfaction.

So why are we talking about corporate sustainability? Because essentially it is due diligence, and everyone should want to get on board with that. Of course, we want you to buy our solutions, but we also want to raise awareness amongst our current customers that they already have a tool in their toolkit that is perfect for the current economic climate (pun obviously intended), and for corporate sustainability.

One of our customers has recently used the i-nexus solution to track energy consumption, breaking it down into gas and electricity. They looked at it from a sales perspective, to create a formula of how much energy they were using per dollar sale on a plant-by-plant basis. To clarify (numbers illustrative not actual), perhaps Plant A and Plant B are both consuming 250,000 kwh per month. However, Plant A is making $500,000 per month in sales, but Plant B is making $1000,000. This sort of data proves invaluable to informing the setting of sustainability targets and goals.

Are you the Sustainability Lead in your organisation? What are you measuring and monitoring for your sustainability kpi’s? Lighting, motion sensors, carbon emissions, waste production? Are you running projects on recycling rates, or increasing the ratio of green energy and renewables to other energy sources? Are you looking at counter measures for energy spikes, installing smart meters?

We can give you peace of mind. We can give you visibility of your initiatives and the performance of your sustainability programmes. We can support you in strategic alignment of your sustainability goals to the actions you’re taking and measuring their performance. If you are investigating sustainability in any of the seven wastes (transport, inventory, motion, waiting, over-processing, over production, and defects), we have a solution that helps you counter and manage them all. We can ensure that you make promises that you will deliver on, and that you can be secure in your own accountability.

If you are already one of our customers, you could be using our solution right now to address all these issues. We want you to get the most out of what you are already have.

Longevity, productivity, growth, and corporate sustainability. That’s just due diligence.
